Lucius Artorious (Lucius means Light and Artorious means Noble Strength) made his way into this world on 11/11/11. He was born at 34 weeks and 2 days. He weighed in at 5lbs 7oz, and did great. I went into active labor and the hospital staff was getting ready for his delievery when my entire labor just stopped out of no where. We thought contractins might come back but they did not. So, the next day they started pitocin, which after 12 hours or so and being turned up and up and up did not work. This is not normal for my labors as all, and they couldnt figure out why. I was offered the option to weight and see what happened, or go with a c-section. Seeing as how after starting pitocin I had an epidural, and I had not eaten in over 24 hours at this point and wouldnt be allowed to eat again till after he was born, as well as the fact from the moment I got the epidural I was nauseas and was throwing up off and on, we opted for the C-section. I told the nurse it was not normal for my body to stop labor like that and I bet you, God would show them why the C-section was happening, there would be a reason why everything stopped. Sure enough, his cord was wrapped around his body twice, as well as around his legs! God was gracious and allowed no complications to come from that for which I am so thankful. Though he was early, he was alive and healthy! After his first night breathing was getting more and more difficult and he was really straining, so they put him on cpap to help him. He had a hole in his lung which was another concern. He was on cpap for 5 days, and the air in his chest and around his heart was seen larger on the xrays then before. After coming off cpap, we prayed the hole would close, as its difficult to close when air is being forced into the lungs from the cpap. After coming of the cpap the air spots were smaller but not as small as theyd like, but they were not going to do anything at that moment about it because of how small he was, if the xray they would do right before discharge didnt show enough of a change it would be followed up as he grew. A few days after being off cpap he took about 1/2 his feeding by nursing or bottle, which was wonderful! After being in the NICU for 12 days he came home. Before he left they did an xray and the air was almost completely gone, God had answered our prayers and healed the hole in his lung. He was able to nurse right away and did not have to go home on bottles! God is so good in his answer to prayer, and I am so thankful he gave us Lucius and can clearly see his hand in keeping him healthy and safe, during pregnancy and after his birth. He is now 3 weeks old and happy and content. He loves to eat constantly, and sleeps wonderfully. He only cries when he needs to be changed or fed, I'm so thankful God has given us such a content sweet little man.
